Anyone leaving a message on the church answering phone system Thursday afternoon or later, be aware that the message will not be acted upon until the following Tuesday morning. If your message is urgent, (prayer chain, illness and can’t fill duty for the Sunday, etc.) please call LaVonne at 319.269.6693 and she will attempt to take care of it.
Easter Lilies
Anyone wishing to donate Easter lilies again please have them to the church by April 8th, the Saturday before Palm Sunday. They will be displayed in the church or the church foyer.
Clerk of Session Vacancy
Beginning June 1, 2017, a new clerk of session is needed. Eileen Kramer will be retiring from the position at that time. However, she is very willing to assist the new clerk of session in his/her transition to the job. Please prayerfully consider taking this position.
KidQuest
KidQuest is excited to announce that we will be doing a considerable amount of updating to the building this summer! Due to the growing need for quality childcare in the A-P school district, we are shifting rooms and improving others. KidQuest has been blessed by the community, and again, we are reaching out and inviting you to our biggest fundraiser, the annual KidQuest Hog Roast. It is taking place Wednesday, April 12th from 5-7pm at the Aplington School Lunchroom. We are also adding a bake sale to it this year! The meal and goodies are all free will donation! Don’t forget that we do take-out meals as well! The meal includes: pork sandwich or hot dog, baked beans, potato chips, Peppercorn Pantry potato salad, and a beverage.
Also, if you feel moved to help with this event, we are looking for those wanting to donate pies, plates of cookies, loaves of breads, etc. These donated items can be dropped off to KidQuest April 11th from 6 am to 6 pm or on April 12th by 12 pm. We are always looking for people to help with set-up and serving and tear down. If you are wanting to help with this, contact your local KQ church representative or call Kim at KidQuest (319-347-6366).
By the way, if you haven’t purchased your Casey’s donut and pizza cards from a KidQuest Preschooler, they will be available that night! That also helps support our preschool program. Again, we graciously thank you for all your support! KidQuest truly feels blessed to be a part of this amazing community having the opportunity to spread God’s word through the little ones!
Community Choir
The community choir practice time for Easter has been changed from 7:40 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Please pass on the time change to other choir members.
APW Ladies Salad Luncheon
The APW Ladies Salad Luncheon date has been changed from April 6th to April 27th. The program “Changes in time, color and taste” will be given by LaVonne Lawton. She will give a quilt presentation from her personal collection of quilts. We hope you can come and enjoy the luncheon and the colorful quilts. Bring a friend.
Alternatives Pregnancy Center
Alternatives Pregnancy Center 2017 Baby Bottle Drive will be held during the month of March.Please pick up a baby bottle on Sunday, March 5th from church and bring it home and fill it up with cash, coins or a check! Bring it back on Sunday, March 26th, and we'll donate all the money to Alternatives. Alternatives mission statement is "To explore Christ-centered alternatives with those who are facing an unplanned pregnancy”. They celebrated their 25th anniversary last year and in those years served over 13,500 women, provided over 5,000 pregnancy tests and over 3,300 babies were born to their women.
